Franklin Silver Cornet Band
2008 Summer Youth Program
JR SILVER C’S
Elementary and Middle school students who have successfully completed 1 to 4 years of band instrument instruction are invited to participate in the “Jr. Silver C’s” summer band program.
The program provides an opportunity for music students to improve their individual playing skills, gain experience playing within a full band, develop relationships with other area music students, and hopefully strengthen their enjoyment of playing music. Last year we nearly doubled in size, bringing together 48 students from Oil City, Rocky Grove, Franklin, Cranberry, and Saegertown schools.
Six rehearsals for Jr. Silver C members will be held in fellowship hall (enter from 11th St.) of the First United Methodist Church in Franklin from 9:30 AM to 12PM on these days:
July 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24.
They will play a mini-concert during the intermission of the Silver Cornet Band concert in Franklin’s Bandstand Park on July 24 at 7:30PM. Participants in the program are expected to attend all practices and the concert. Exceptions may be made on an individual basis. A $20 registration fee is requested to help offset expenses and provide a program shirt for each musician. You may request to have the fee waived, if necessary.
The rehearsals and concert will be directed by Silver Cornet Band member, Dan Cartwright. Mr. Cartwright is the instrumental music instructor at Oil City Area High School. Several additional Silver Cornet Band members will also be on hand daily to lend assistance during rehearsals.
There are limited spaces available in the band and interested musicians must pre-register.
Completed registration forms and check payable to Franklin Silver Cornet Band should be mailed by June 7th to: Jr. FSCB
